Volunteer Opportunities in Your Child's Classroom
What is a Volunteer?
A volunteer is anyone who gives their time to partake in activities that benefit others. To register as a volunteer please visit the main office.
- Mystery Reader - a volunteer who reads for 10-15 minutes after recess every Friday. If unavailable on Friday's please let the office know specific days/times that work best for you.
- Fieldtrips - a volunteer who would like to chaperone on fieldtrips will be responsible for a small group of students for the entire assigned time.
- Room Parent - the room parent serves as a liaison between the teacher and the students' parents. Common responsibilities of a room parent include planning holiday celebrations and seeking volunteers to chaperone fieldtrips, assist with classroom activities or provide support to the teacher in other areas.
- Learning Experiences - a volunteer who would like to help with activities related to curriculum (i.e. special snack, science lessons, etc.)
- Centers - a volunteer who assists with learning center activities.
- Tutor - a tutor gives individual or small group instruction to help students help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner.
- Cutting/Laminating/Correcting Papers - a volunteer who helps once a week with correcting non-subject papers and cutting/laminating materials needed for the classroom.
- Recess Duty - a volunteer who is willing to take students out for recess to allow teachers and assistants to prepare for the next activity.
- Projects - a volunteer who is willing to prepare materials for an upcoming project. This can be done at home or in the classroom.
- Speaker's Bureau - a volunteer who would like to share their job or interest as it relates to the curriculum being taught.
- Classroom Celebrations - a volunteer who helps with classroom activities during holiday parties, game day, etc.
- Share a Talent - a volunteer who is interested in sharing a talent of theirs through song, dance and/or art with students.
